Garden
Because emeralds are often far more included than other gemstones, this characteristic has become more romantically known as its garden and is said to the character of the stone. This garden may resemble a cloud of wispy silk-like fibers or any effect the combination of solid, gas, and liquid inclusions can produce. Some gardens are very prominent and others are barely noticeable.
By carefully observing a stones garden, a skilled Gemologist may be able to identify the geographical source of the emerald; in some cases he may even be able to identify the particular mine from which it was obtained. |
